Proverb 3:5-6 helps us to answer this question by giving us instructions on what it takes to trust God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart
Trusting God with your life is very instrumental to your well-being. When you know how to trust God, you will have peace despite what is going on around you. God loves and knows you more than anyone else including yourself.
Does God have an interest in you?
Psalm 139:1-18 shows how much God knows you:
Psalm 139:1-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
7 I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave,[a] you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
11 I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me,[b] O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!
What does the word TRUST mean?
The word trust means to place confidence in or to rely on.
In the Strong’s Complete Word Study Concordance, the word trust is said to express the feeling of safety and security that is felt when one can rely on someone or something else.
It is important to put our trust in God because He is faithful. Romans 4:20-21 says Abraham did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief. He knew that God will fulfill what He had promised.
I heard someone explain what trust means by explaining the relationship between a young child and a parent. He said the way a child would run to his or her parent with open arms, is the way we are to trust God when we need help. You feel safe and protected in His word or promises.
I. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart:
Trusting the Lord with all your hear means you believe His word. You believe that God will fulfill his promises to you.
Romans 4:20 says Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God” (KJV).
1 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in him are
II. Lean not unto your own understanding:
Don’t put too much trust in how you perceive your life to be. Most of us were never taught to view life from God’s perspective.
Our perception in life is mainly influenced by the five physical senses. What you see, feel, taste, touch, and hear. For instance, when we are sick, we choose to focus on the sickness. All we have ever known is that it is a normal thing to experience sickness, lack of money, etc.
As we grow in our walk of faith, we have to train our minds to think like God. For example, when we are sick, we have to remember that God said “Jesus bore our sicknesses and carried our
Sickness is an oppression of the devil. Acts 10:38 says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (KJV).
The Bible tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from us. We resist him by praying healing scriptures. We pray until healing is manifest. Even though you still go to the doctor, your trust is in God.
III. In all your ways acknowledge him:
This means consult God about things that you need in your life, or family. He has a solution for whatever you are going through. The bible says in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (KJV).
IV. He shall direct thy paths:
Psalm 32:8 says, “The LORD says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you” (NLT).
How does He guide you? He guides you through His word. Psalm 119: 105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path” (NLT).
So, we need to find out what the bible says about the situation we may be dealing with. Pray what the Bible says until we receive direction from God through His word.
Frame your world with your words
We frame our world with the words we speak. Regardless of whether they are negative or positive. When we speak negative things about our marriages, children, finances, our jobs, etc. we will experience what we always talk about.
What you need to do is to train yourself to only speak what the bible says about you. In Romans 12:2 the Bible says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God” (KJV).
God needs your participation to bless you. You take part in speaking or praying God’s promises. Hebrews 4:2 says the word of God did not profit the children of Israel because they did not mix the word of God with faith.
They did not believe what God had promised them. They spend most of their time complaining. The spirit of faith believes and speaks God’s promises. If you want to read more about bible faith and how it works, here is a link to the article: https://www.spiritualgrowthbiblestudies.com/bible-faith/
