Create the life you want with your tongue
Create The Life You Want by saying the right things about yourself. Your tongue is a powerful tool to help you to change your life. Most of us have this mindset that we need to have more money before we can achieve our dreams.
Your dreams start in your mouth. For instance, start saying, “I have plenty of resources to achieve my dream.” Don’t even worry about how it is going to happen. Opportunities to make more money to fund your dream will come to you.
The tongue and your life are inseparable. The things you say all the time affects your life. What you talk about all the time is what you believe. And what you believe whether it is good or bad comes to pass in your life.
Many of us do not realize that most of what is going on in our lives is the direct result of the things we say all the time. Why is that? It is because the things we talk about are coming from the heart.
Whatever comes from the heart is what you believe. Faith is in your heart. The heart is referring to your spirit. Not the physical heart that pumps blood. For instance, someone who always talks about being sick stays sick most of their lives. In fact, they actually talk about it in a possessive manner. They will say, “my diabetes…my arthritis….” Instead, they should receive the healing that God has already provided. Matthew 8:17 says, “…Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses” (KJV). Also, Psalm 103:3 says, “Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases” (AMP).
Another example is someone who talks about being broke all the time often continues to have no money. I am not referring to someone who makes such a statement rarely. I am referring to an individual who is always talking about their lack of money all the time.
The Bible makes it clear in Proverbs 18:21 that “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NIV). The New Living Translation says it this way, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences”. The words that we speak could result in the death of a marriage, relationship, business or success.
Jesus also proved to us that the tongue does create the things we say. For instance, Mark 11:20, mentions the time when Jesus had cursed the fig tree, and it withered from the root. The following day, one of the disciples made reference that the fig tree withered away.
And Jesus said to the disciples in Mark 11:22 “Have faith in God” (NIV). Some Bible scholars say it means, “have the God kind of faith”. In other words, have faith that the things you say, will actually come to pass. In Genesis 1:1 God spoke what He wanted to manifest and it happened instantly. And remember, we are made in God’s image and in His likeness (Genesis 1:26). Thus, we have the ability to create our world with the words we speak.
Furthermore, Mark 11:23-24 says, “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (NIV)
How to change what I speak to change my life:
- Change what’s in your heart: In Matthew 12:34 Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45 says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (KJV). Once again, what we speak about all the time, is in our hearts. So, when my words manifest negative things in my life, I have to change the words that I allow to enter my heart. I must watch what I listen to, read, who I talk to most of the time, etc.
- Speak/pray the word of God: over your life. Read the Bible, and find out what it says about your situation. Believe what the Bible promises you about your life. Speak what the Bible says until it comes to pass. The psalmist said in Psalm 45:1 that his tongue is the pen of a ready writer. According to this scripture, we write God’s promises on our hearts with the tongue. For instance, when we need finances, one of the Bible promises we pray is in Philippians 4:19 which says, “And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (AMP).
- Guard Your Heart (Spirit): Pay attention to what you expose yourself to. Also, pay attention to the things you say and the things you listen to. When you listen to a negative conversation about any situation, it is going to have a negative effect on you.
To meditate means to ponder, to think on, to contemplate, or to intend.
Psalm 1: 1-3 says, “Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans, and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither, and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].” (Amplified)
Proverbs 4:20 says, “My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing and health to all their flesh.” We must pay attention to God’s word, and keep the word in our hearts. The word of God heals our bodies.
Psalm 103:2-3 “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits; who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, who heals [each one of] all your diseases.” (Amplified)
Remember, spoken words enter your heart/spirit regardless of whether they are negative, or positive. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.” The King James version says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Thus, the Bible tells us that what we speak becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Likewise- what we believe influences what we say. If you want positivity in your life, you must first believe it, then speak it.
