Do you think God is pleased with you? What do you think you have to do to be pleasing to God? Thankfully, we don’t have to please God by our performances. No one can do anything in their own strength to please God. That is why we need God’s Grace.
God’s grace allows God’s power to enable us to do things we can’t do in your own strength. For example, it takes the grace of God to show kindness to someone who is unkind towards you. In order for Grace to work, we must have faith in the Word of God. Romans 4:16 says, “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace…” (KJV).
What pleases God is faith in His word. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (KJV).
What does this verse tell us? We cannot please God without faith in Him and His word. When we go to God in prayer, we must believe that God will do what He has promised. Also, we must believe that He rewards those who diligently seek him.
What is the biblical definition of faith?
Hebrews 11:1, (Amplified) says, “NOW FAITH, is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
Hebrews 11:1, (New Living Translation) says, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things w cannot see.”
Understanding Biblical faith is important in the life of the believer. Faith is God’s way of doing everything. Therefore, faith, which is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen, (Hebrew 11:1, KJV), simply means that the things that you are believing God for do actually exist. It is your responsibility to bring those things out of the realm of the spirit, into the physical realm by speaking the promises of God.
You create or frame your life with the word of God
Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible” (AMP).
The New Living Translation, (NLT), says it this way, “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”
How do you frame your world?
Find a verse or a scripture in the Bible that lines up with what you are believing God for. Write that scripture in your prayer journal or index card. Personalize that verse and pray it daily until your situation changes. For example, if you have a child who does not seem to have peace in his or her life you can pray Isaiah 54:13 which says, “And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” (KJV)
Here is how I would pray this verse: Great is the peace of my child/children (name them), for, he/she/or they, are taught of the LORD.
What does the Bible say about Abraham’s Faith in God?
Romans 4:19-21 King James Version (KJV)
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
What does this passage tell us about Abraham’s faith?
- Abraham was not weak in faith because he was not focussed on how old he and Sarah were. His focus was on God’s promise of a son.
- Abraham gave glory to God.
- Abraham was convinced that God would fulfill what He promised.
What is the difference between Strong faith and Weak faith?
Strong Faith:
- Does not focus on the problems or circumstances. Instead, it focusses on God’s promises
- Does not doubt God’s promises
- Gives glory to God for His promises
- Is fully persuaded that God will fulfill His promise
Weak Faith:
- Focussed on problems than on God’s promises
- Has an unbelieving heart
- Does not give glory to God for His promises
- It is not fully persuaded that God will fulfill His promises
Abraham believed that what God had promised him, would actually happen. Abraham was 99 years old when God promised him a son, and Sarah, his wife, was 90 years old. His faith was in what God had promised regardless of how old they were. This is how we, as believers, are supposed to have faith in God.
Mix the word of God with Faith
The bible says in Hebrews 4:2 that the word that the children of Israel heard preached to them did not profit them because they did not mix the word of God with faith. In other words, they did not believe the word that was preached to them.
James tells us that faith without works is dead; “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also” (James 2:26) KJV. Just think about it, when you are not activating your faith by speaking God’s promises, your faith is dead. It cannot work for you.
When you are dealing with seemingly impossible circumstances, put your trust in God. Mark 9:23 says all things are possible to the one who believes. Everything with God works by faith. That is why walking by faith is pleasing to God because it allows Him to work in our lives.
Mark 11:22-23 Amplified Bible (AMP) says,
22 Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. 23 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].
Many Christians would say, “Why am I always struggling?” … “How come God is not helping me with my problem?” …”One thing after another?” God wants you to agree with His word in order for Him to work in your life. Regardless of how much you hear the word preached, if you choose not to act on what you have heard, the word of God will not work for you!
Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” (KJV).
For example, Matthew 8:17 says Jesus took our sicknesses and removed our diseases; and 1 Peter 2:24 says, by his stripes, we were healed. Therefore when I need healing in my body I would pray like this:
“Father in the name of Jesus, your word says in Mark 11:23 that what things soever I desire when I pray, believe that I receive them and I shall have them. Therefore I believe that Jesus took my sicknesses and removed my diseases, and by His stripes I am healed. I believe and I receive my healing right now, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.” From that moment on, I would thank God that I am healed until healing is fully manifested in my body. This is a faith principle that works in every area of our lives.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:13, Paul said to the believers in Thessalonica, “And we will never stop thanking God that when we preached his message to you, you didn’t think of the words we spoke as being just our own. You accepted what we said as the very word of God which, of course, it was. And this word continues to work in you who believe” (NLT). The word of God will work for you if you believe it.
Thus faith is pleasing to God because it is the only way His blessings can manifest in our lives. It pleases God when we are happy, prosperous, healed, and victorious. 1 John 5:4-5 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (KJV).
